Poliestere Film in Reels for the Wrapping of Tubolar Items in the Roto-Traslaction Process
Poliestere Film has been designed for the production of composite materials made with epoxy and polyester resins and with glass, carbon and arammidic fibers.
General Features of Poliestere Film in the Manufacturing of Composites
Poliestere Film is made on our specifications, with a targeted recipe concerning the polyesther grade and a peculiar production process which gives mechanical strength and other physical features.
Poliestere Film is used in the roto-translaction process as over wrapping film, to give very high tensioning forces and get thus a strong specific pressure on the composite surface.
Further it can act as an heat shield whenever higher temperatures are needed in the polymerization process.
Poliestere Film has very good mechanical properties and a reduced heat-shrinkage during the curing cycle.
The physical nature of the film permits to use it with with medium – high – and very high temperatures of polymerization (up to 200-220 C).
Poliestere Film is not coated with laque or silicone for release purposes. In this way no transfer of coating or silicone and no contamination of the composite is possible, and there is no need to clean or sand the item after polymerization. Poliestere film does not release from epoxy and polyester resins.
Over Wrapping and Heat Shield
In the roto-translaction process it is used as over wrapping film of the rod to manufacture (double taping of compaction and compression). Another film is commonly placed in contact with the resin and Polyester is used both to give extra compaction by tensioning and to act as an heat shield for high processing temperatures.
It has the functions to give high compaction to the different layers of prepregs in the wrapping phase, to give good compression to the manufactured article in the polymerization phase as well as to act as a thermal shield in presence of high temperatures of process. With this method the use of Poliestere Film gets significant improvements in the composite’s structure.
Available Products
The available nominal thicknesses are 23, 50 and 75 micron, the density is 1,4 g/cm3, the nominal unit weights 32-70-105 grams per square metre, the nominal yields 31-14-9,5 square metres per kilogram.
Release Films and Tubolar Composite’s Features
Our films for the production of composites have outstanding performances only if they are properly used. Very important are, in particular, the wrapping of the tape and polymerization’s conditions.
